In Ravello, you can celebrate your Catholic ceremony in one of a number of lovely, romantic churches for Catholic weddings with different architectural and decorative styles.

A couple can choose the perfect church for their Catholic ceremony according to their personal tastes and wishes and the size of their wedding group.

The cathedral, or ‘Duomo’, in Ravello’s main square, is the village’s most impressive Catholic wedding venue.

Duomo of Ravello – church description

The cathedral, which dominates the main village square, was built in 1806 and is dedicated to the patron saint of Ravello and Venice, San Pantaleone.

Inside, the cathedral has a nave and two aisles and is very elegantly decorated with beautiful pieces of fine art and statuary. The church was originally bequeathed to the town by the 13th Century local nobleman, Niccolo Rufolo.

The magnificent marble pulpit which dominates the interior of the church was created by the great sculptor Bartolomeo.

The Duomo, which can be booked to celebrate Catholic weddings on any day of the week, including Saturdays and Sundays, hosts wedding groups of up to 200 people.

On request, Catholic wedding ceremonies can be celebrated by an English-speaking priest.

Santa Maria a Gradillo Church – church description

This very old, beautiful church, built in the 12th Century, is an absolute treasure! Reached via the pretty and characteristic Via Roma, from Ravello’s main square, it has a nave and two aisles and features impressive carved columns and supporting rounded arches.

The church also features an occasional glass panel overlaying the original 12th Century floor.

The warmth and intimacy offered by this church makes it the ideal venue for smaller wedding groups of up to 70 people.

S. Maria a Gradillo

An antique gem of a church located 100 yards or so from the central piazza along Ravello’s picturesque “concourse" - the Via (more the alley-way “Viccolo") Roma. It has two aisles & a nave, with beautifully carved columns supporting rounded (ogival) arches.

A unique feature is an occasional glass panel overlaid on the original 12th Century floor.

San Francesco Church – church description

This beautiful Baroque church was built in 1222, by Saint Francis of Assisi then was later rebuilt, in the 18th Century. It is the perfect location for a private wedding ceremony and hosts groups of up to 100 people.
