Holly and David travelled from Australia to celebrate their Amalfi Coast wedding day between the seaside setting of Amalfi and the mountaintop village of Ravello.
We originally met the lovely Holly, originally from Ireland, when she visited us in the autumn of 2016 (2 years prior to the wedding) and together we viewed several Amalfi Coast wedding venues to find the perfect setting for her wedding to David.
Holly and Australian David chose to celebrate a Catholic wedding ceremony in recognition of Holly’s religion. They married in the Duomo di Amalfi, the town’s magnificent cathedral, which sits atop an impressive staircase in Amalfi’s main square.
The evening before their special day, Holly and David hosted a fun pizza party for their family members and friends at Le Nereidi a charming Amalfi seafront restaurant and event venue. Guests enjoyed delicious traditional pizza as they admired the spectacular views, caught up with old friends and made new ones!
One the day of the wedding, Holly got ready in the couple’s pretty Amalfi apartment assisted by her bridesmaids, while the dapper groom and his groomsmen finished their preparations and departed for the church.
The bride, accompanied by her father, arrived in chic and charming style in a vintage FIAT 500 cabriolet in a perky peach colour. Holly’s bridesmaids, dressed in floaty blush-coloured dresses with floral embroidery, assisted the bride as she stepped out of the car. The bride wore a gorgeous silk and tulle dress with intricate floral embroidery with a floral-appliqué, tulle veil and carried a simple but stunning bouquet of blush-coloured peonies.
After the ceremony, as the newly married couple exited the duomo, they were showered with rose petal confetti by their guests before receiving hugs and kisses of congratulation.
While guests enjoyed slices of pizza, arranged by the bride and groom, in bustling Amalfi’s main square, Holly, David and their amazing photographer Joanne Dunn slipped away to capture photographs in some of the coast’s most appealing settings.
Guests were then transported to nearby Ravello, which sits high above the Amalfi coastline. On arrival in this chic little town, we arranged for the guests to be greeted by a Prosecco cart, where they stopped for a refreshing glass of this delicious sparkling Italian wine. During aperitifs, guests were entertained by a traditional Neapolitan guitar and mandolin duo who later accompanied them as they walked through the cobbled streets to Holly and David’s wedding reception venue.
Holly and David had chosen Villa Eva as the setting for their wedding reception. Holly had fallen in love with the venue during our visit there together 2 years earlier. The gracious Liberty-style private events villa is nestled in a flower-filled garden idyll and boasts breathtaking coastal views. On arrival at the venue, guests enjoyed drinks and delicious appetisers in the villa’s gardens.
Holly and David ended their photography session with a visit to Ravello’s Villa Rufolo, a historic cloistered building set in extensive grounds with spectacular views. They were met by the Neapolitan duo to accompany them on their stroll to the villa where they were greeted with a champagne toast and cheers from their guests.
Later, following group photographs in the gardens, guests were invited into the villa’s elegant gazebo for the wedding banquet. After the bride and groom were introduced and made their official entrance, pre-dinner speeches were filled with laughter and happy tears.
Holly, David and their guests enjoyed a delicious 5-course wedding dinner of traditional Italian and Amalfi Coast cuisine featuring the freshest local ingredients, many grown in the venue’s own home garden.
Following dessert, guests joined the bride and groom in the villa’s belvedere garden with its evening coastal panorama, as Holly and David cut their elegant, white wedding cake as fairy lights twinkled above them, in the trees. The delicious 3-tiered cake featured a layer of Chantilly cream, a layer of coffee cake and a layer of Amalfi Coast lemon cake and was decorated with charming iced flowers and topped with handmade, personalised bunting.
While guests sampled the wedding cake, as the full moon shone down upon Holly and David, they captured enchanting night-time photographs on the villa’s rooftop terrace and in the atmospherically-lit gardens. As Holly and David’s band began to play, the couple and their guests took to the dance floor for further fun and frolics.
Holly and David’s breath-taking Amalfi-to-Ravello Amalfi Coast wedding was a thrill to organise for such delightful couple!
