Charming Hotel
Venue in Ravello [R1]
This charming hotel has a more unusual, ecclesiastical history than any of the village’s other ancient villa hotels, having originally been a Bishop’s residence.
Richard Wagner, the famous composer, is said to have favoured this hotel during his visit to Ravello in the Spring of 1880 and to have appreciated the ‘good and gracious’ Episcopio wine associated with this venue. The family piano, on which Wagner spent hours creating passages for his famous work ‘Parsifal’, still has an honoured place among the hotel's impressive collection of antique furnishings and fittings. The interior architecture is attractive and impressive, featuring Greco-Roman-style marble columns & Moorish arches.
The hotel’s guest books bear testimony to the many important and revered personalities who have stayed here across the centuries.
The hotel is located just opposite the town hall’s historic building where indoor civil ceremonies are celebrated in the Mayor’s parlour and mere steps away from the belvedere gardens where outdoor civil ceremonies are performed. It is a popular choice for wedding receptions which can take place indoors in the hotel’s elegant and stately halls or outdoors, in the lovely flower-filled sea-view gardens shaded by hanging vines and Amalfi lemon trees.
This exclusive boutique hotel has 21 attractive and appealing rooms & suites.
The hotel restaurant’s cuisine makes the very best, most imaginative use of local fish, seafood & organic farm produce and meticulous attention is given to the quality of service.
The hotel is also a delightful setting for non-religious, symbolic wedding ceremonies.
